There is a warmth that exudes from singer/songwriter Shannen James’s voice that is at once unique and comfortingly familiar. A silky-smooth tone that is both disarming and effortless.

Releasing her new single ‘Breakfast With You’ in 2022 James has gone from strength to strength recently supporting Sycco on her National Australian Tour, opening for Slowly Slowly on their National Australian Tour, opening for Thelma Plum’s Victoria shows as well as performing at the Australian Grand Prix 2022 and AFLW at Mars Stadium for Interatnaion Women’s week.

This all follows the success of her previous single ‘Superstitious which was added straight to triple j rotation and peaked at #22 on the US Submodern Singles chart. The track was also supported by streaming services including Spotify (Front Left, New Music Friday, Fresh Finds in the US & more) as well as Apple Music (NMD, Alt Pop, Heaps Indie, Mellow Days & more).

‘Superstitious’ followed Shannen’s breakthrough 2020 EP Arrows, which included hits such as the bright title track Arrows, ‘Collide’, her 2019 debut, Something In The Water, and ‘Empty Eyes’. The EP earnt Shannen adds across triple j & triple j unearthed (including a Feature Artist nod), Spotify, Apple Music, champions across the likes of NME (“a slice of indie pop sunshine that stokes anticipation for an LP”), Bigsound (2020 lineup), a remix of EP track ‘Seventeen’ by The Rubens, live performances on ABC The Sound, SXSW 2021, Bigsound2020 and shows alongside G Flip & Men I Trust, Paul Dempsey, Dylan James, and her sold out headline East-Coast tour in 2021.
